THE CHARLIE HARRINGTON AWARD
(Started 1999)
Presented annually to the upperclassman who most embodies the spirit and character of Babson Rugby in the tradition of the late Babson Rugger Charlie Harrington ’83
Charlie loved rugby and the camaraderie of the team. He wanted to practice and play all the time. He didn’t just want to train with running or do drills, he wanted to hit and scrimmage and play. It didn’t matter what the weather or where. Road trips were the best because of the long rides, oldies on the radio and socials with the other clubs. We prepared for the toughest games we could find and we won a lot. The tougher the team the more we wanted to play them. That was DeMello’s theory and we all pursued it that way.
